NESU calls for "Twitter Storm" in appeal to include Northeast in NCERT books

The Northeast Students' Union (NESU), Vadodara unit, called for a "Twitter Storm" on June 4, 2021, from 6 pm to 8 pm, with an appeal to include Northeast as a mandatory chapter in NCERT textbooks.

At the virtual gathering on Friday, the participants will tweet with the hashtags #NortheastMatters and #AChapterForNE

The aim is to appeal to the central authorities that the northeast's "history, geographical boundaries, lifestyle, ethnicity, vibrant culture, notable personalities, natural resources and the contribution to India's development" find a place in NCERT textbooks, a release said. 

Around 30 universities and student organisations have voiced support to collaborate in this appeal.

Eminent public figures like Zubeen Garg, Ninong Ering (MLA, Arunachal Pradesh), Dr Vityala Yethindra, Major Mohammed Ali Shah, Dr Onkar Singh Batra, have also extended their support to the Northeast Student community.
