Minor pregnant after being sexually abused by 17-yr-old brother

In a horrific incident, a 17-year-old boy was arrested by the Vellore All Women Police for raping his 16-year-old younger sister multiple times and impregnating her. The victim, now eight months pregnant was handed over to the Vellore child welfare committee (CWC).
According to reports, the accused was the elder son of daily wage labourers from a village in Tamil Nadu. He had dropped out of school after finishing Class X two years ago and was doing menial jobs, a senior police officer said.
After he started earning, he became addicted to liquor in the recent past. Their mother, the complainant in the case, told police that due to the family's impoverished condition, the victim was also forced to stop her education and was helping her mother in cooking and other household work.
The accused had begun raping his sister eight months ago when she was alone at home and threatened to commit suicide if she revealed the matter to their parents.
Her mother, who became suspicious after the victim missed her periods, took her to a private clinic where the doctors
diagnosed that she was at least eight months pregnant. Shocked over this, she lodged a complaint at the Vellore all-woman
police station on Wednesday evening.
Based on the complaint, the accused has been booked under Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence (Pocso) Act.
