Man kills self after raping 14-yr-old daughter

In an incident, a man committed suicide, almost a week after he raped his 14-year-old daughter.
The accused, a resident of Pratapgarh district had taken his 14-year-old daughter to the jungle for fetching wood six days ago.
He was heavily drunk and raped the child on sword point and even threatened her to not reveal the incident to anyone.
However, the girl narrated the incident to her mother. When she questioned her husband, the accused threatened the woman too to keep mum and forced them to stay indoors.
Later the woman got an opportunity to escape and went to her brother's house and told him about her husband's act. They went to the police station to lodge a report.
"We received a complaint from the rape survivor's mother and have registered the case under POCSO Act. The medical examination has been conducted by a medical board," subinspector Bhavani Singh said.
While the police were searching for the accused who had been absconding for two days, the latter returned home on Monday morning and was found hanging from the ceiling some time later. Police is investigating the suicide case too, sources claimed.
"The accused had fled after his wife registered the rape complaint. He returned home in the wee hours on Monday. His brothers saw him getting inside the house and informed the police. When our team went inside, they saw the accused hanging. Perhaps he committed suicide out of remorse and guilt. His body has been given to his family after autopsy" Surendra
