India’s COVID-19 tally crosses 16 lakh mark

NEW DELHI | JULY 31, 2020: 

India's COVID-19 tally crossed the 16 lakh mark on Friday, July 31, with the highest single-day spike of 55,079 positive cases & 779 deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the total cases in the country stand at 16,38,871 including 5,45,318 active cases, 10,57,806 recoveries and 35,747 fatalities.

This is the second consecutive day that COVID-19 cases have increased by over 50,000. The total number of confirmed cases also includes foreigners.

Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 4,11,798 total cases, 2,48,615 recoveries and 1,48,150 active cases followed by Tamil Nadu with 2,39,978 cases and Delhi with 1,34,403 cases.
