Indian Air Force working across all fronts to help India fight COVID

The IAF in its endeavour to cater to the requirement of oxygen in the country is working tirelessly to provide the much-needed support amid the current COVID-19 situation.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is helping the nation cope with the current COVID crisis by airlifting essential medical supplies from abroad and within the country.

The IAF in its endeavour to cater to the requirement of oxygen in the country is working tirelessly to provide the much-needed support amid the current COVID-19 situation.

The personnel from the IAF carried out various operations over the past week to ensure timely delivery of medical supplies to states and hospitals.

As of April 29, 2021, IAF carried out 23 sorties from abroad, airlifting 39 oxygen containers with 670 MT of capacity, while from within the country, it carried out 124 sorties, airlifting 87 containers with 1,798 MT capacity. 

Here are the details of operations carried by the IAF on April 30: 

International

*Two C-17 aircraft are airlifting eight oxygen tankers from Singapore to Panagarh. The task is in progress.

Domestic

*A C-17 aircraft airlifted two oxygen tankers from   Chandigarh to Bhubaneswar.
*A C-17 aircraft is airlifting two oxygen tankers from Agra to Ranchi.
*A C-17 aircraft airlifted one oxygen tanker from Baroda to Ranchi.
*A C-17 aircraft is airlifting two oxygen tankers from Gwalior to Raipur.
*A C-17 aircraft is airlifting two oxygen tankers from Indore to Surat.
*A C-17 aircraft is airlifting two oxygen tankers from Chandigarh to Ranchi.
*A C-17 aircraft is airlifting six oxygen tankers from Hindon to Ranchi.
*A C-17 aircraft is airlifting two oxygen tankers from Jodhpur to Jamnagar.
*A C-17 aircraft is airlifting two oxygen tankers from Mumbai to Bhubaneswar.
*An IL-76 aircraft is airlifting three oxygen plant equipment from Delhi to Dimapur and an Army load of 15.3T with 53 medicos for setting up of COVID hospital at Lucknow.
