India reports lowest number of active cases after 70 days

NEW DELHI:

The Union Health Ministry, on Saturday, informed that only 84,332 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours, the lowest count recorded after 70 days.

The active caseload has declined to less than 11 lakhs (10,80,690) after 63 days, decreasing by 40,981 in the last 24 hours.
The recovery rate has further increased to 95.07% after over 1,21,311 patients recovered from the virus on Friday. The total number of recoveries now stands at 2,79,11,384.

The number of deaths reported due to the virus on Friday is 4002.

"This is the 30th consecutive day that the recoveries have outnumbered the daily new cases," the Ministry stated.

Meanwhile, 24.96 Cr. vaccine doses have been administered across the country so far.

The weekly positivity rate has dropped to less than 5%, and the daily positivity rate stands at 4.39%, which is less than 10% for 19 consecutive days.
