India reports 1,00,636 new COVID cases, lowest in two months

This is the lowest number of cases reported in the last 61 days according to the Health Ministry data.

India's COVID tally continued to show a downward trend as the country reported 1,00,636 new COVID-19 in the last 24 hours on Monday including 2,427 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.

Recoveries continue to outnumber the number of positive cases in the country with as many as 1,74,399 patients having recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.

The total active COVID-19 cases in the country now stand at 14,01,609, while the total fatalities are reported to be around 3,49,186.

As many as 36,63,34,111 samples have been tested in the country up to June 6, including 15,87,589 samples tested on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the national recovery rate has jumped to 93.94 per cent and the positivity rate has gone down to 6.21 per cent.

According to ICMR, 23.27 crore COVID vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.
