India logs over 4 lakh COVID-19 cases for fourth day in a row

NEW DELHI:

With over 4,03,738 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, India continued to report more than four lakh daily COVID infections for the fourth day in a row.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the cumulative national tally of the infection went up to 2,22,96,414 on Sunday morning.

There were also 3,86,444 fresh recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, pushing the total discharges to 1,83,17,404.

India currently has 37,36,648 active COVID-19 cases.

In addition to the 4 lakh plus figures, India also reported 4,092 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 2,42,362.

Till May 8, a total of 30,22, 75,471 samples have been tested, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reported.

India has also administered 16,94,39,663 vaccine doses till Sunday.
