COVID-19 cases continue to decline in India, 3,11,170 infections reported in last 24 hours

While new cases continue to decrease, the death rate remains constant with 4,077 COVID-related deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

NEW DELHI:

India reported 3,11,170 fresh COVID-19 cases and 3,62,437 recoveries in the last 24 hours on Sunday, which is one of the smallest daily increase in the past couple of days.

While new cases continue to decrease, the death rate remains constant with 4,077 COVID-related deaths reported in the last 24 hours.

The total active cases in the country now stand at 36,18,458, with the national recovery rate of 84.25 per cent, as per the Union Health Ministry data.

India's total caseload now stands at 2,46,84,077, including 2,07,95,335 recoveries till date.

With Sunday's death tally, India total death toll now stands at 2,70,284.

According to the ICMR, 31,48,50,143 samples have been tested up to May 15, of which 18,32,950 samples were tested on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a total of 18,22,20,164 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered across the country so far.
