Fuel prices hike reported in major cities

Fuel prices have risen to 1.08 per litre for petrol and Rs 1.33 per litre for diesel in the national capital alone, in just seven days.

Fuel price on Monday was increased by 23-26 paise per litre for petrol and 31-35 paise per litre for diesel.

As per a circulation issued by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the petrol price in Delhi rose from Rs 91.27 to Rs 91.53 per litre (26 paise) while diesel rise went up from Rs 81.73 to Rs 82.06 per litre (33 paise), on Sunday.

Similar cases of the rise in fuel price were reported in other cities in the country on the same day.

In Kolkata, the petrol price was hiked to Rs 91.66 from Rs 91.41 per litre (25 paise) and diesel to Rs 84.90 from Rs 84.57 per litre (33 paise).

In Mumbai, the petrol price went up from Rs 97.61 to Rs 97.86 per litre (25 paise) and diesel was hiked to Rs 89.17 from Rs 86.82 per litre (35 paise).

Likewise, in Chennai, petrol is retailed at Rs 93.38, and diesel at Rs 86.96, 23 paise and 31 paise more than on Sunday.

It may be mentioned that the fuel prices have risen to 1.08 per litre for petrol and Rs 1.33 per litre for diesel in the national capital alone, in just seven days.

The retail prices of auto fuels differ from state to state due to different local taxes and VAT imposed.

As per dynamic pricing, state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) revise the pump prices of petrol and diesel on a daily basis.
