COVID Update: India's active caseload close to 8 lakh as recovery continues

The daily recoveries have continued to outnumber the daily new cases for 35 days consecutively and, more than a lakh patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.

NEW DELHI:

The Union Health Ministry, on Thursday, informed that the overall active caseload in the country has declined to 8,26,740, which is over 38000 cases lesser than on Wednesday.


The daily recoveries have continued to outnumber the daily new cases for 35 days consecutively and, more than a lakh patients have recovered from the virus in the last 24 hours.


Meanwhile, a total of 67,208 new cases were reported on Wednesday. The number of reported deaths is 2,330 taking the total tally to 3,81,903.  


The recovery rate across the country from the virus has increased to 95.93% after the total recoveries across the country till Wednesday are at 2.84 crores. 


26.55 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.


The weekly positivity rate has declined to 3.99% from 4.17% on Wednesday, while the daily positivity rate has further inclined from 3.22% to 3.48%.
