NEW DELHI:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a meeting with oxygen manufacturers in the country amid concerns expressed by some states that the supply of oxygen gas is inadequate.

The participants in the meeting included Reliance Industries Limited Chairman, Mukesh Ambani, MD of Air Water Jamshedpur Nariyo Shibuya, Jindal Steel and Power's Naveen Jindal, SAIL Chairperson, Soma Mondal, and other leading figures.

This was the fourth review meeting in the last one week to review the oxygen crisis in the country amid the ongoing second wave of the COVID-19.

Earlier, the PM also held a meeting with the Chief Ministers of the states with the high burden of COVID-19 cases.

Modi urged all the states to work together and coordinate to fulfil the requirements of medicines and oxygen, also urging them to check hoarding and black marketing of oxygen and essential medical supplies.

He said that as soon the required supply of oxygen is delivered to the states by the centre, the states must ensure that that the supply reaches the hospitals on time.

Meanwhile, the companies have been asked to increase the production and supply of oxygen given the current COVID-19 scenario in the country.
