Confirmed COVID-19 surges to 31, 787 in India, 7796 recover

NATIONAL | APRIL 29, 2020:

A total number of 31787 confirmed COVID-19 cases have reported in the country so far. Out of the total cases, 7796 patients have recovered and were discharged from the hospitals while 1,008 patients have died.

Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan today interacted with the Lions Club International members through video conferencing and expressed his gratitude to the Lions Club members for contributing 9.1 crore rupees in the PM CARES fund and of 12.5 crore rupees to the various Chief Ministers Relief Funds.

Health Secretary, Preeti Sudan, also chaired a Video Conference in New Delhi with representatives from States and Districts to discuss and deliberate on health infrastructure and other various aspects related to COVID-19 management. The functioning of GIS Dashboard, COVID-19 portal and dedicated RT-PCR referral App was discussed. She urged the States to promote the Arogya Setu App which is a self assessment tool helpful in the prevention efforts of the Government.

Sudan also emphasized that non-COVID essential medical care should not be neglected. It was reiterated that patients require dialysis, cancer treatment, diabetics, pregnant women and those suffering from cardiac ailments must be given adequate care. States were also urged to ensure that the services in proximity of people are functional and remain uninfected.

Speaking on management of COVID-19 cases, Director General of ICMR, Dr. Balram Bhargava, emphasized on the importance of the meticulous collection of samples and filling up of accompanying forms. During the Video Conference, States were also informed that the RT-PCR app has been made functional and needs to be put to use immediately.
