21-yr-old denied sex change by dad, kills self
NATIONAL | May 13, 2019:
A 21-year-old man committed suicide in Manali after his father prevented him from undergoing a sex reassignment surgery.
The deceased, a BCA graduate was unemployed but did not look for a job although his father kept insisting.
Police said the family noticed changes in his behaviour. He did not mingle with his friends and remained indoors. He also expressed his wish to undergo a sex reassignment surgery, but his father denied him permission.
Upset with the decision, he left home three days ago and took shelter at an old woman's house. His father, who found out that his son was residing with a group of people from the transgender community at Manali, came looking for him on Friday night. But he refused to go home.
Police said when his father told him that he would return the next day, he got worried and hanged himself to death.
The Manali police have registered a case and investigations are on.
