LONDON:

World War II veteran Captain Tom Moore passed away after testing positive for COVID-19.

The 100-year-old won the hearts of many after raising over 32 million pounds for healthcare charities by completing 100 laps around his garden, using a walking frame, and was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

His family took to Twitter to announce the news.

“The last year of our father’s life was nothing short of remarkable. He was rejuvenated and experienced things he’d only ever dreamed of,’’ Moore’s family tweeted.

“Whilst he’d been in so many hearts for just a short time, he was an incredible father and grandfather, and he will stay alive in our hearts forever,’’ they added.
