US assures delivery of assistance in 48 hours to India, Germany and France also pledge support

The United States will be delivering raw materials for vaccines, oxygen concentrators, ventilators, PPE kits to India in the next 48 hours, said US National Security Advisor (NSA) Juke Sullivan in his 45-minute-long long call with his Indian counterpart on Sunday.

Supply of Remdesiver and raw material required by Serum Institute were also figured in the discussion, said sources.

A few other countries like France, Germany and Saudi Arabia have also pledged support to India in the hour of need.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Sunday said that her government was preparing emergency aid for India as the country grapples with a devastating surge in coronavirus infections.

France plans to offer India "significant" extra oxygen capacity in the coming days to help the country cope with a record surge in Covid-19 infections, the French presidency informed.

The support comes amid India's massive surge in COVID-19 infections, with the country facing a severe shortage of essential medical supplies.
