Pakistan Anti-Terrorism Court directs police to arrest JeM chief

 |

A day after the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Pakistan, which sentenced the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai attack Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi for financing the operation, the court on Friday directed the Punjab Police Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) to arrest the chief of the banned Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) Masood Azhar by January 18.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Gujranwala issued an arrest warrant against Azhar in multiple cases of terrorism activities.

ATC Gujranwala judge Natasha Naseem while making the judgement directed the CTD to arrest Azhar by January 18 and present him before the court.

The court will thereafter begin the legal proceedings to declare him a proclaimed offender.

Following the Pulwama terror attack in February 2019, Pakistan’s Punjab police had launched a crackdown on terror outfits operating out of Pakistan.
