'Morphed' photo of Rihanna holding Pakistani flag surfaces online

NEW DELHI:

After Rihanna's tweet on farmers' protest in India went viral on social media since Tuesday, a 'morphed' photo of the singer holding a Pakistani flag at a stadium has surfaced online.

The singer has been targetted and dubbed as a 'Pakistani' after her tweet in support of farmers' protest went viral with over 337,000 retweets and 821,000 likes as of February 5, 2021.

According to AFP fact check, the photo which has gone viral was doctored, adding that Rihanna was holding a flag with the Cricket West Indies (CWI) crest during the West Indies vs Sri Lanka cricket match in the ICC 2019 World Cup game at Chester-le-Street in Durham.

On July 1, 2019, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had tweeted, "Look who's at #SLvWI to Rally 'round the West Indies! Watch out for @rihanna's new single, Shut Up And Cover Drive"
