India's food basket in danger; ranks 94 at Global Index Hunger 2020

India ranked 94 at the Global Index Hunger report among 107 countries, a report stated on Friday.

The joint publication by Concern Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe, Global Hunger Index rated India with a score of 27.2, that seemed “serious”.

Some countries with severe hunger rates were Rwanda at 97, Nigeria 98, Afghanistan 99, Liberia 102, Mozambique 103 and others.

While 14 per cent of the total population is said to be undernourished, also recording 37.4 per cent of child stunting rate.

Other countries like Nepal stood at 73, Pakistan at 88, and Bangladesh at 75 following others.

India ranked at 102 out of 117 countries last year.
