PUBG: Players bid farewell as company completely stops services in India
NEW DELHI
The Indian government has banned the popular mobile gaming app PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) from October 30.
Many players of the game took to their social media handles to share memes and bid farewell to the game.
Except for the PC version of the mobile gaming app, the Information and Technology Ministry in September had banned PUBG Mobile and 117 other applications, after China's Tencent Games bought a 1.5 percent stake in Bluehole Studio.
PUBG wrote, “Dear Fans, To comply with the interim order of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology dated September 2, 2020, Tencent Games will terminate all service and access for users in India to PUBG MOBILE Nordic Map: Livik and PUBG MOBILE Lite (together, “PUBG Mobile”) on October 30, 2020. The rights to publish PUBG MOBILE in India will be returned to the owner of the PUBG intellectual property.”
The order comes after border tension between India and China grew in eastern Ladakh.
