India to begin COVID-19 vaccination from January 16: Centre

NEW DELHI:

The COVID-19 vaccination drive will kick-off on January 16, the Centre announced on Saturday.

“Priority will be given to healthcare workers and frontline workers, estimated to be around three crore, followed by those above 50 years and the under-50 population groups with co-morbidities numbering around 27 crore,” the Centre said.

According to the Health Ministry, there are 2,24,190 COVID-19 active cases in the country, and more than 1.5 lakh people have died.
