India lead by 89 runs at stumps on 2nd day of final Test against England

AHMEDABAD:

India were 294/7 at stumps after the end of the second day of the fourth Test here in Ahmedabad on Friday, leading by 89 runs.

India resumed the second day at 24/1 and lost some early wickets as the day progressed, courtesy some good bowling by England.

India lost three early wickets under the score of 100 in the first half, with some low key performance by Virat Kohli (0), Cheteshwar Pujara (17) in the first half.

Rohit Sharma's (49), Rishabh Pant (101) and Washington Sundar (60) stabilised India's innings to provide the host a much-needed lead required to win the match.

England bowling department saw some good performance by James Anderson, who took three wickets conceding 73 runs.

Ben Stokes and Jack Leach shared two wickets each.

Sundar and Axar Patel will continue with their batting tomorrow as India hopes to increase the lead and win the series.
