BIRMINGHAM:

India’s Kidambi Srikanth was knocked out of the men’s singles in the All England Open Badminton Championships after losing to Thailand's Nhat Nguyen on Wednesday.

Srikanth came out strongly in the second set after losing the first set. However, a neck-to-neck fight in the third set eventually turned in favour of the 20-year-old from Ireland.

Likewise, Parupalli Kashyap was also knocked out of the men’s singles after losing against World No. 1 Kento Momota.

However, there was some good news from the female squad as PV Sindhu sailed into the next round with a comfortable win over Malaysia’s Soniia Cheah.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal exited the championship after retiring hurt against Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt.
