AIZAWL: Employees under the RMSA scheme, who have been terminated due to stoppage of fund from the Centre, are determined to continue their fast-unto-death demanding re-employment, even as the state education minister requested them to end their agitation.
Around 40 laboratory attendants and officer clerks are undertaking the fast Prism office here for the last seven days and 18 of them have been admitted to hospital.
Education minister H Rohluna and the department officials visited the hunger strikes today and pleaded them to end their strike. The minister assured them that he would take all possible steps to convince the Centre to renew their employment. He made it clear that it is not possible on the parts of the state government to re-employ them due to financial constraints.
As they were not satisfied with the minister's verbal assurances, the agitators decided to go ahead with their strike. They felt neglected as the state Cabinet did not consider to discuss their cause.
