Meghalaya: HYC for stern action against "misuse" of PDS in West Khasi Hills

A Fair Price Shop in Mawmluh-1 near Rambrai village under Nongstoin C&RD Block, West Khasi Hills District, has been reported for misusing the free supplies meant for the most marginalised sections.

This came to light after, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council, Mawmluh-1 Unit and HYC West Khasi Hills along with the card holders filed a complaint to the Deputy Commissioner, West Khasi Hills District alleging that the dealer was charging extra from the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) consumers and deducted some kilogram from the AAY, PHH and Non- NFSA consumers.

The HYC also alleged that the dealer did not take the rice to the village but distributed at Rambrai market, which brought a lot of difficulties to the beneficiaries to carry the ration.

The HYC has demanded the higher authorities to take action against the dealer and the wrongdoer as they have violated the NFSA Act 2013 and Essential Commodities Act 1955.
