Meghalaya: Disbanded ANVC–B asks government to honour Agreed Text of Settlement

The Achik National Volunteers’ Council (ANVC) – Breakaway has sought an immediate meeting between themselves and the government over the implementation of the Agreed Text of Settlement (ATS).

Deepan G Momin, General Secretary of the former outfit, has called on the government to ensure that the Text of Settlement is honoured.

“The state government has ignored the Agreement of the ANVC groups which were signed in the presence of Rajnath Singh and Kiren Rijiju in Delhi on 24th September 2014. Even after six years, the state government has not cleared the rehabilitation packages, the Agreed Text has not been implemented as per the agreement,” said Momin in a release.

The ANVC – B pointed to the Bodo Accord which according to the group gained traction due to the initiation of the BJP government in Assam, the Garo agreement got delayed by the negligence of NPP government in Meghalaya.
