Meghalaya: PDF is controlled by Congress in KHADC, alleges Shylla

Shillong, July 20, 2018:

KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM), Hispreaching Son Shylla has blamed the Congress for trying to create political instability in the Council.

"It is the political strategy of the Congress to influence the MDCs to abstain from the elections of the CEM and Deputy Chairman. The MDCs of the People's Democratic Front (PDF), who are part of the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA), are being controlled by the Congress" Shylla said while talking to reporters here today.

Presuming that former KHADC CEM Pynshngain Nanda Syiem is 'probably' getting close to his former party, the  Congress, Shylla said that one should not be surprised if he (Syiem) contest the bye-election of the Ranikor constituency on a Congress ticket.

He also claimed that at least three MDCs of the PDF are planning to join the Congress. The KHADC CEM said that at the begining, he had thought that the PDF had invited the Congress to support the PDA. "But as things unfolded it clearly shows that the PDF is being controlled by the Congress," Shylla said.

He further said that the PDF had elected Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah MDC James Ban Basaiawmoit as its new Parliamentary Party leader. "But to the surprise of many the party finally projected Nongskhen MDC for the CEM post. We really don't know who is the PP leader of the PDF," the KHADC CEM said sarcastically.

Meanwhile, he also said that there was a desperate attempt by the PDA to poach members of the KHDA by offering them the post of CEM. "This clearly reflects the desperation among the leaders within the Congress," Shylla added.
