IMPHAL:

Nine-year-old Licypriya Kangujam of Manipur, was reportedly detained for 40 minutes by Delhi Police for protesting outside the Parliament House against the rising air pollution levels in the city on Sunday.

Taking to her Twitter account, said to be handled by her guardians, Kangujam tweeted that they had also taken her to an unspecified location.

The nine-year-old girl from Manipur was taken to the Parliament Street Police Station and then released at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.

Kangujam tweeted, “Just Imagine: A nine-year-old kid forcibly asked to climb a police van and took away to teach a lesson not to speak out again. My crime is I just wanted clean air to breath.”

Kangujam said that she would protest again despite the incident, adding that they may have snatched her placard but, they will never take her spirit.
