Environmental projects set to change Manipur's landscape

Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, Awangbow Newmai inspected various environmental projects implemented in the state on Monday.

The Minister inspected the ongoing Climate Change Adaptation Project at the Phayeng village in Imphal west district. He also inspected the spring source water supply system, solar-powered cold storage unit under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and village knowledge centre in Phayeng.

Speaking at the gathering in Phayeng, the Minister said that Phayeng has set an example for the entire state regarding the conservation of forest.

He also appreciated that volunteers on a roster basis are safeguarding the forest and said that they need this level of consciousness throughout the state to conserve the forests for future generations.

Later, he also visited and inspected the Sewage Treatment Plant under the Rejuvenation and Conservation of Nambul river at Heirangoithong and checked the maintenance of the riverfront garden at Waheng leikai, Keishampat and Keishamthong in Imphal west district.
