Lok Sabha polls 2019 in Northeast: Voter turnout details; Damaged EVMs reported; Cong demands repoll

Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, J&K, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Odisha, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura, UP, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Andaman & Nicobar Islands & Lakshadweep go for elections in Phase 1 of Lok Sabha Elections 2019 today.

The polling for the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 began today at 7 am and is underway. The phase 1 polling session is underway in the eight states of Northeast India along with other states.

63.56% in Shillong Polling Constituency

MIZORAM:

Total voter turn out for Lok Sabha polls phase 1 is 62.59 per cent

TRIPURA

Total voter turn out for Lok Sabha polls phase 1 is 80 per cent

CPI-M General Secretary, Sitaram Yechuri, who is in the state now alleged that more than 460 booths out of the total 1679 were rigged, voters were intimidated and forced to leave the places and the agents of Left political parties were not allowed to enter inside the booths by the BJP workers.

Congress also demanded repoll in 151 booths.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal casts his vote at a polling station in Dibrugarh as polling kicked off for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019.

In Tripura, police said they have heard of the complaints that voters in many areas were forced to vacate the booth without casting vote. However, they haven't received any complaint of attack on anyone as of now. CPM candidate and sitting MP from West Tripura constituency Shankar Prasad Datta complained that two of their polling agents in Ranirbazar and Jogendranagar area were attacked and now they have been admitted to the hospital. He also alleged many of the voters were forced to leave the polling booths in many places without casting their votes.

ASSAM

Around 10.2 percent voters exercised their franchise till 9 AM on Thursday in the first phase of Lok Sabha Elections in the five parliamentary constituencies in Assam, officials said. Till 9 AM Tezpur recorded 10 percent polling, Kaliabor 10 percent, Lakhimpur 9 percent, Dibrugarh 10 percent and Jorhat 12 percent, informed Assam Election officials.

ARUNACHAL PRADESH

SIKKIM:

The state has recorder 34% voter turn out so far.

Voting for the tenth Assembly and seventeenth Lok Sabha in Sikkim will be held today all across state. There are 432306 voters out of which 212001 are female and 220305 Male. The sitting chief Minister Pawan Chamling who is also contesting from two seats- Poklok Kamrang and Namchi Singithang in South Sikkim will cast his vote in Namchi.

The state has recorded 18.5 per cent voter turn out so far
