SHILLONG | Feb 19, 2019:

Meghalaya Governor, Tathagata Roy, who often makes headlines for his controversial comments, has done it again and this time endorsed an appeal made by a retired colonel of the Indian Army to boycott "everything Kashmiri."

Extending his support to a retired Army officer on twitter, Roy wrote "An appeal from a retired colonel of the Indian Army: Don't visit Kashmir, don't go to Amarnath for the next 2 years. Don't buy articles from Kashmir emporia or Kashmiri tradesman who come every winter. Boycott everything Kashmiri. I am inclined to agree."

Roy's statement came in the wake of the brutal Pulwama terror attack on February 14 where 40 Central Reserve Police Force jawans were martyred.

One hour after his controversial tweet, Roy reacted to the media and other people's comment to his previous tweet where he stated that his suggestion was a purely NON-VIOLENT REACTION to the killing of our soldiers.

His statement has drawn flaks from several quarters with netizens making comments like "but sir our enemy is Pakistan not Kashmir", "absurd", "Note that the Governor is firing his gun from a retired colonel's shoulder. Am a retired Colonel too. Strongly recommend that all Kashmiris should be made to feel comfortable and like citizens like all of us. Will you retweet that Guv?" besides others.
