Babul Supriyo: NE can develop only under corruption-free gov’s reign

AGARTALA: The development of north-eastern region will begin only under the regime of corruption-free government, Union Minister of State for Urban Development Babul Supriyo said on Wednesday.

"Our Modi government strongly believes that the country cannot be developed unless the north-east flooded with development. The Centre has taken pro-NE initiatives to bring the region at par with other developed states in the country. But, the real development will only come with the replacement of the corrupted governments," the Union Minister told the media persons at BJP state office in Agartala this afternoon.

The Union Minister paid a one-day visit here today as a part of his tour to parliament constituencies of Left Front and Congress MPs. Later, criticizing the Left Front government here, Supriyo said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is the only alternative party that can replace the existing government.

"The Tripura's Left Front government will be no more in power due to its autocrat rule. The BJP has started gaining popularity in the state. Now people have also understood that BJP is the only alternative party of the existing government," he said.

Supriyo also said that the Centre allocates huge fund for implementation of different developmental projects in the region which the ruling governments have to ensure proper utilization for the benefit of the people.

"The respective ruling governments of the region would have to ensure whether they are properly utilizing the central allocated funds for the developmental projects. Without blaming the Centre, they must focus on utilization of the funds for the sake of the people," the Union Minister said.
