Assam: Sex racket busted in rented house, 2 men & 4 women arrested in Narengi

GUWAHATI, June 30, 2018: In a sensational incident that occurred in the city, a major sex racket has been busted at Urmi Nagar, Narengi.

Four ladies and two men have been arrested by the police in connection with the incident.

The two men have been identified as Ramesh Baishya and Arnab Giri.

It has been alleged that the sex racket was being run at a rented place belonging to one Kamal Das. The flesh trade has been going on for a month.

As per to the reports, Baishya has been running a flesh trade business at the rented house of one Kamal Das of Urmi Nagar for last one month led by Ramesh Baishya.

Locals after seeing suspicious movement had informed the police following which a raid was conducted.

ACP Noonmati, Purabi Majumdar  speaking to a media had said, 'Based on specific inputs, a team from Noonmati PS led by an officer raided the place. Baishya was running it and Giri was a pimp kind of a guy. An FIR has been registered under Sec 2 and 3 of Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act after Urmi Nagar Unnayan Committee filed a complaint and investigation is on. A case has been registered (Case No 359/18) at Noonmati PS'.

He also added, 'The people involved in these immoral activities don't stay in one place for a long time and keep on changing places'.

Police have imposed strict rules for the landlords and tenants following such incidents.
