Assam: Major financial relief to cancer patients in state!

Guwahati, March 23: In a major financial relief to cancer patients in Assam, State Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made an announcement that on March 25, financial assistance ranging from Rs. 75,000 to 2 lakh will be given to 3,495 cancer patients under Atal Amrit Abhiyan Scheme at Khanapara Vetinary field, Assam.

Atal Amrit Abhiyan is a health insurance scheme which aims at providing coverage against several critical illnesses. Launched to mark the 92nd birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the scheme offers coverage against 437 illnesses in six disease groups (cardiovascular, cancer, kidney, neo-natal, neurological conditions and burns).

Both Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Above Poverty Line (APL) families, with annual income below Re 5 lakh are eligible to avail this scheme.
