Assam: ‘Independence Day Plot’ foiled by security forces; Live grenades recovered at Udalguri

| GUWAHATI, August 10: Recently OneIndia reported that a high-alert was issued in Assam that ULFA-I insurgents were trying to launch an attack on Independence Day. The intelligence alert suggested that insurgents slipped into Assam from Myanmar and were into a lookout to launch a major attack.
Based on a tip-off, a joint operation launched by army and police personnel at Udalguri, where the officials recovered two live grenades from the house of a man identified as Anwar Hussain.
Reportedly, the man was hiding the explosives to make a major assault on Independence Day.
