Assam floods may worsen as more rainfall on the fray for many states of Northeast India!

July 9, 2017: The heavy rainfall and floods in Assam raised the death toll to 22, affecting 4.5 lakh people in 17 districts. The Skymet Weather forecast predicts that situation in Assam may worsen further. Adjoining states Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will also receive heavy rains in coming days. The weather forecast predicts rainfall intensity from moderate to heavy in several parts of Uttar Pradesh, along with thundershowers.

In Assam, out of 35 districts, 17 are submerged in the flood waters. In Lakhimpur, the Brahmaputra river is flowing above the danger level which is badly affecting the areas like Cherang, Bangai Gaon, Sonitpur, Mori Gaon, Jhorhat, Demaji, and Shivsagar district. The disaster management team informs that apart from the Brahmaputra, other rivers are also flowing above the danger level, reports Skymet.
