The District Council Court in Shillong will remain closed on Monday, April 19, after judge S. Kharsyiemlieh tested positive for COVID-19.

“The public, especially lawyers and litigants who recently came in contact either with the said Judge or his Magisterial Staffs are required to come forward for providing their names, age, address and contact number to the Registrar, District Council Court, Shillong,” read an official statement issued by the District Council Court.

The Court also stated that the above measures would enable the concerned authorities to begin rigorous contact tracing.

“It is also advised that those persons who have come in contact practice self-isolation for five days (w.e.f April 16, 2021) and to follow the protocols as prescribed by the Health Department.”

“To facilitate sanitising etc., of Court premises, the District Council Court, Shillong shall remain suspended on April 19, 2021, except Police Papers (remand),” the statement added.
