Will 2018 be the end of Congress in Meghalaya?

By Our Correspondent, TNT News | Shillong, Dec 08, 2018:
The end is near for the Congress! That’s what every political party in the state feels strongly about and continues to lashes out at the congress-led government to ensure that predictions about the downfall of a mighty regime turns into a reality.
Using the recent exodus of congress MLAs as a weapon against the age-old party, the United Democratic Party (UDP) on Monday is confident that the crisis within the congress will ultimately be the result of its downfall.
‘The Congress in Meghalaya is going through one the toughest time,” UDP working president, Paul Lyngdoh said  while speaking at the public rally of the UDP Mawlai Circle here on Monday.
According to Lyngdoh, the congress is losing ground with seven of the sitting legislators leaving the party even as there are three sitting legislators who have decided not to contest the upcoming elections.
Without mentioning the name, he said that there is an MLA of the Congress who is on the verge of being sent to jail.
The UDP working president also slammed the Congress party for misruling the State for the past 30 years.
Meanwhile, Hill State People Democratic Party (HSPDP) president, Ardent Miller Basaiawmoit said that the UDP and HSPDP have decided to come together for the upcoming election to fulfill the dreams of the people to see a regional part led Government after the election.
He said that the decision of the two parties to come together is also a step forward towards unification of the two parties. Others who spoke on the occasion include UDP working president, Jemino Mawthoh and UDP local MLA from Mawlai, Embhah Syiemlieh.
