ULFA (I) temporary hideout busted in Arunachal Pradesh

Close on the heels of the 68th Republic Day, Security Forces busted a temporary hideout of the ULFA(I) near Namdapha Reserve forest in Arunachal Pradesh on Friday night. 

Though no cadres were present in the temporary camp, security forces,however, recovered blank extortion notes, opium and other administrative stores’ from the area. 

According to the Defence PRO (Kohima) Col C Konwer, the Jairampur Battalion of security forces under the aegis of DAO division successful conducted operations near Namdapha Reserve forest in the night of 5 Jan 2018 resulting in destruction of a ULFA(I) temporary hideout.

He informed that an operation was launched based on specific intelligence about presence of cadres trying to terrorize and attempting extortion in Miao circle. The Jairampur battalion swiftly launched an operation and surrounded the temporary hideout. 

The cadres had been using the hideout as place of transit and had been terrorizing and carrying out extortion from villagers of Miao circle,” Col Konwer said adding that the security forces has been carrying out aggressive operations in South Arunachal Pradesh and this action has struck a blow to the extortion activities being carried out by the underground cadres of the group in the area.
