AGARTALA, Oct 1, 2017: The end of Navami marked the immersion of the idol of Durga Bari Temple, which existed in Tripura’s erstwhile royal regime with police band playing National Anthem on Saturday evening.
It may be mentioned that this is the only Puja celebration where national anthem is played during immersion.
Uncountable devotees took part in the procession towards Dashamighat along with the Durga idol amidst tight security.
This puja was introduced by the then Maharaja Krishna Kishore Manikya after he had established the Durgabari Temple in Agartala more than 177 years back. Presently, West District Magistrate is the sevayat of the puja.
Earlier, this puja was first observed by devotees in Udaipur, Amarpur and Puran Haveli.
The puja began on Sasthi (sixth day) and on Navami, animals like buffaloes, sponsored by the Left government, were sacrificed.
The idol of this temple was the first to be immersed at Howrah River in Dashamighat with police band playing the national song.
Apart from this puja, the government sponsored the Kali puja at Tripureswari Temple situated in Udaipur, Kharchi Puja, Ker Puja etc.
