Tripura: Shopkeeper killed, head smashed in capital city of poll bound state

By Our Correspondent, TNT News | AGARTALA, Jan 11, 2018:
In yet another case of murder in poll-bound Tripura, a shopkeeper was killed with his head smashed at Agartala city.
The deceased was identified as Goutam Sarkar (35), resident of a locality close to Balkan Club – one of the city’s prominent clubs.
Speaking to this correspondent, Superintendent of Police (Control) Pradip De informed that the victim was a worker in a local bag trading shop in Agartala.
His body was recovered from a drain in Chittaranjan Road area in the city early morning, the SP said.
His head was smashed with blunt weapon, probably a large stone, the cops said.
Later today, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Biplab Deb said there was a sustained effort from ruling CPIM to protect murderers.
While referring to 8 murders in last couple of months as ‘political killings’, the BJP demanded punishment of criminals.
CPIM spokesperson Goutam Das reacted to the BJP leader’s allegations and said they were looking for dead bodies ‘like vultures’ for political advances.
