Tripura: Petrol Bomb hurled on BJP Mahila Morcha leader’s house

AGARTALA, May 4: Unknown miscreants on Thursday attacked BJP Mahila Morcha General Secretary Papiya Datta’s house with a petrol bomb.

The fire though had spread to curtains of a room, no one in the family sustained any injury. The incident was reported to have occurred at around 12:30 am at Ranjitnagar in West Tripura District.

Datta has lodged a complaint at Ramnagar Outpost against five suspects, also close aides to CPM local MLA Ratan Das. ” My brother heard something hard object has fallen into our house premises. Soon after, we smelled petrol and saw curtains of one room has caught fire. Luckily, we are safe,” said Datta.

Getting the information, BJP  leaders and police came to the spot. The fire was doused with the intervention of police. Datta alleged that she and few other local residents are raising voice against filling of a pond that was donated to a school in the area by some local CPM people.

The dispute is continuing for over three years. ” They are trying to suppress me through such incidents. Still, our movement will go on,” she said.
