Tripura: One held with arms in Agartala railway station

AGARTALA, February 8, 2018: A few hours ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in poll bound Tripura, police arrested a middle aged person from Agartala railway station in the early morning and recovered a huge cache of arms from his procession.

Superintendent of Police (West Tripura) Abhijeet Saptarsi said acting on inputs, police carried out an operation in Tripura Sundari Express in the early morning, which was coming from New Delhi and detained one Naresh Chakma (40) of Jatanbari under Nutanbazar police station of Gomuti district of South Tripura.

















“Italian made three .22 pistols with 500 rounds of ammunition in 10 packets and a knife were recovered from his procession during search. Naresh has past criminal record with similar case registered against him in Assam and he was travelling from Lumding in the train,” Saptarsi said.

Police said that he was handed over to General Railway Police for further course of action. A case has registered under Arms Act.
