Tripura: NIT Agartala signs memorandum of understanding with IIT Madras

AGARTALA, August 9: National Institute of Technology, Agartala(NIT Agartala) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with IIT Madras one of India’s most prestigious universities to facilitate each other on research, academic activities, training and workshop of the budding engineers and teachers.

NIT Agartala officials stated that both the institutions agreed to undertake student and faculty exchange programmes for quality improvement.

National Institute of Technology, Agartala was founded as Tripura Engineering College in 1965 and declared a National Institute of Technology (NIT) in 2006. It is the best technical institute of the North Eastern region of India after IIT Guwahati as ranked by National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.

The institutions would jointly undertake projects for national development.

On the other hand, Indian Institute of Technology Madras is one of India’s most prestigious universities. It is recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India and founded in 1959 with technical and financial assistance from the former government of West Germany.
