AGARTALA Jan 11,2018: With the Assembly polls approaching closer , the BJP and the Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) are also coming closer to uproot the Marxist government in the northeastern state.
The IPFT expressed to go for electoral understanding with the BJP as the Union Ministry of Home Affairs would constitute a high-power modality committee to check socio-economic and cultural issues.
Union Home Minister also tweeted the fact.
The Centre’s approach to their pleas made them to open door for talks centering electoral understanding with the BJP.
” We met Prime Minister and made him aware of plight of indigenous people. The high-power modality committee for development of indigenous people’s socio-economic conditions would be formed due to our die-hard struggle for the indigenous rights. Though we are not fully conscious about the terms of reference of the committee, we hope that Tipraland issue to be included there,” said NC Debbarma, IPFT chief.
Regarding possibilities of alliance, he said, ” Door is open for talks with BJP .”
BJP though is willing to tie up with the party but said the alliance would never made to happen if the IPFT is not ready shed off their Tipraland demand.
” Everything would be clear in a week. But we would not tie up with the party if they stick to their separate statehood demand,” said BJP president Biplab Deb.
