IPFT held a crucial Central committee meeting yesterday at Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala with all its top leadership and party cadres. The two representatives of IPFT in the state ministerial cabinet N.C. Debbarma and Mevar Kumar Jamatia were also present in the meeting to discuss about the recent clashes between the two ruling alliance partners BJP and IPFT.
After the meeting IPFT president N.C. Debbarma while addressing the media said “We will appeal the government to temporarily halt the allocation of post of BAC chairperson in various block. We will also ask the government that there must be a common power mechanism among BJP and IPFT”.
On the question of violent clashes between BJP and IPFT the IPFT president replied, “It is a fact there had been few such incidents and since the Home department is under the Chief Minister himself, he had discussed the matter with us. He had also asked our leaders to look into the matter. The Chief Minister himself called me yesterday and asked me to ask my leaders to withdraw the road blockade by the IPFT from the national highway as it will affect the common people of the state. Accordingly we have instructed our leaders to withdraw the road blockade and it was then withdrawn. We have also instructed our leadership to take care of such future incidents. But Chief Minister has not spoken anything about breaking alliance with IPFT”.
He further clarified that, “Although there might have been instances of clashes between both BJP and IPFT but IPFT did not halt any development work initiated by the newly elected state government”.
