A total of 25,69,216 electorates including 11 third genders are eligible to cast their votes in the coming Assembly elections in February. Of the total voters, 13,03,420 are males and the rest 12,65,785 are females.
Informing the media, Chief Electoral Officer – Sriram Taranikanti said that the final electoral roll has shown a net increase by 2.52 as the draft voters’ list has 25,05,997 voters with 12,75,369 males and 12,30,628 females.
“Total 25.6 lakh voters are enlisted in the voters’ list to exercise their franchise in the Assembly polls. During revision, total 34,845 electors were deleted and 98,064 new voters were added to the list,” he said.
Total 47,803 electors within the age-group of 18-19 were added in the voters’ list.
Highest number of voters and as well polling stations have been found in Badharghat constituency that is reserved for Scheduled Caste while two Scheduled Tribe dominated constituency – Karbook and Charilam have lowest voters and polling stations.
Maximum hike in voters i.e, 4.26% were found in Barjala constituency (SC) and Banamalipur has shown least increase in voters.
Total 3214 polling stations would be set up in all the 60-seated Assembly constituencies.
VVPATs and EVMs would be used in all the polling stations.
” Till now, 4080 VVPATs have arrived the state. More 800 are about to reach soon. We need 3214 EVMs and one-fifth of it already came here,” Taranikanti said.
He further added that around 1400 service voters would cast their votes through electronic ballot paper system this time.
The five-year term of the Tripura Assembly would conclude on March 14 while the terms for Meghalaya and Nagaland would end on March 6 and 13 respectively.
