TRIPURA | March 3, 2018:

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Left Front led by the Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPM, are keeping their fingers crossed ahead of Tripura election results today, as exit polls have failed to predict a clear picture.
While the BJP is looking to dethrone the 25-year-old Left Front government in Tripura and expand its presence in the northeast, the latter will look to hold on to the only state it is power, other than Kerala.

The counting of votes has ended in Agartala.  Elections for 59 seats in Tripura’s 60-member House were held on 18 February. Here are the latest updates and developments from the Tripura election results today:

COUNTING DISRUPTED IN DHANPUR | CPI(M) to register complaint with the Election Commission about chaos in Dhanpur, which is Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarka’s constituency. As per statements made by leaders at the party headquarters, counting has stopped in the incumbent CM’s constituency after the fourth round. He is sitting at the counting centre. Counting in three booths in Dhanpur was stopped after BJP workers complained that EVM machines to do not have signatures of their polling agents.

As of now, BJP-IPFT alliance stands at a staggering 35 seats whereas CPI(M) is only at 11 seats. The magic number has been crossed and most probably the face of BJP, Biplab Kumar Deb is presumed to be the next CM of Tripura.

Tripura is heading towards a change in their government, as BJP is still in the lead followed by Left font. In the year 2013, Left font won with  huge margin and could continue its government but this year, there has been a huge gap between BJP and Left font giving a shocking results.
