Agartala Feb 6,2018: ‘ Lal Sarkar’, a movie that is likely to be released this week, became a reason for Left Front’s sleepless nights. The movie is believed to be about a series of wrongdoings under 25-year old Marxist government.
The CPM recently lodged a complaint regarding campaign of the movie trailer in the state prior polls.
” It is BJP’s controversy to malign CPM. We filed a complaint to the Election Commission to take steps to stop such campaigning and also sought copies of the movie,” said CPM secretary Bijan Dhar.
When asked about the movie, producer Sushil Kumar Sharman said that his 1.45 hour duration ‘Lal Sarkar’ has shown something ‘ hidden truths ‘ without naming any government’s reign. ” Lal means blood. The movie is about the attitude of a government towards people without naming any particular government’s reign. Take example of Pink movie that reflected sexual harassment of women in Delhi without blaming the government there,” Sharman said.
He came to the northeastern state in 2016 to shoot for a documentary film but he got stucked with the idea of making a feature film after observing situations of the state. Starred by model and actor Vicky Rai and Tollywood actors – Srikantha Manna and Koyel Das, the movie has over 100 people involved including junior artists.
Shooting took place in certain parts of Tripura and Assam in Northeast besides Kolkata and Mumbai. The movie revolves around story of a documentary filmmaker who went missing in Tripura and then his girlfriend comes here to rescue him and to discover all unknown truths lying untapped in the state. He denied involvement of any political party, especially BJP, for making the film.
Similarly, BJP too declined the allegation of their involvement in making the movie. But they might use the movie, after its release, as their campaign tool. ” If the movie reveals real truth of the current government regime, we might use it as our campaign tool for the upcoming elections, ” said one senior BJP leader.
