AGARTALA, Aug 12, 2017: Aiming to end a two-decade old Marxist era and to clip the wings of BJP, the opposition Congress is eyeing to forge an alliance with indigenous-based political parties and Trinamool Congress.
“The Left Front is the main rival of Congress. Though the BJP has emerged as main opposition, people still believes in Congress. We are thinking of uniting with Trinamool Congress and other indigenous political parties against the Left Front in the coming elections though official talks has been made in this regard”, said CLP Gopal Roy.
With the defection of six Congress MLAs to BJP, the Trinamool Congress slipped from the main opposition to ‘nowhere.’
While the Left is considering the BJP as a threat in the upcoming elections, it is also keeping a keen eye on the Trinamool Congress which is on its way to rejuvenate the party.
Their new in-charge Sabyasachi Datta visited the state for the first time after taking charge of the state. “We highlighted present political scenario to our in-charge. He had taken stock of our party related activities and would present the report to our supremo Mamata Banerjee. We would follow what our supremo orders us next,” said Trinamool Congress vice president -Dulal Das.
However, the party is undecided about forging alliance with the Congress as the party is now focusing to make the organization strong.
Regarding alliance, he threw the ball into the party head’s court and said, ” Mamatadidi and Sonia Gandhi will take final decision. We would follow our supremo ‘s advice,” he said.
